Whitley is a residential suburb in the South of Coventry within easy reach of the A45, A46 and motorway networks. Until the 19th century, Whitley had its own identity based around a grand house which was built in the 14th century. This house bore the name "Whitley Abbey" and the entire estate was sold in the 1920’s. Planning permission was granted during the 1950s to build Whitley Abbey Comprehensive School which is now called Whitley Academy which is one of the seven RSA Academies in the country.
Whitley is also home to the headquarters of Jaguar Land Rover. The facility is a fully integrated design, research and development centre.
Baginton is a village in the Warwick district of Warwickshire lying 4 miles south of Coventry city centre. It is home to the remains of the ancient Roman Lunt Fort which is a popular site for school visits and activity days during the summer and south east of the village lies Baginton Airport.
The Church of St John the Baptist is situated in the old part of Baginton. A scenic footpath starts near the church and leads to the neighbouring village of Stoneleigh.
The road from Baginton to southern Coventry passes over the river Sowe near an old mill, which is now a restaurant and hotel called The Old Mill.
